solarSolar Together Bedfordshire

Bedford Borough residents and local businesses are being encouraged to find out more about a scheme which could help them lower their energy bills and reduce their carbon emissions.

Solar Together Bedfordshire is a group-buying scheme which helps households get a reduced price on the installation of solar panels. It’s free to register, and there is no obligation to accept the personal recommendation. The more people that register, the better bargaining power Solar Together has to get you a more competitive price.

Find out more about the scheme, as well as how to register, via the webpage: bedford.gov.uk/solar

mologic 1Mologic & Alamar Biosciences collaborate to develop a next generation COVID-19 antigen test

Bedford based company Mologic is a leading developer of lateral flow and rapid diagnostic technologies, products and services.  They work with companies, researchers and clinicians to help them deliver fast, reliable and accurate diagnosis at the point-of-care and they have recently partnered with US based company Alamar Biosciences, a platform company focused on transforming the field of proteomics to enable the early detection of cancer and other diseases. Their collaboration means Mologic can utilise Alamar’s novel antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 Nucleocapsid protein for Mologic’s future COVID-19 RDTs.

Mologic has already launched a COVID-19 antigen test (“COVIOS”) based on its lateral flow assay technology, utilising high affinity, paired antibodies specific for the SARS-CoV-2 nucleoprotein antigen. Second generation tests with an even greater sensitivity are now in development leveraging the latest generation of engineered antibodies with ultra-high affinity, discovered through Alamar’s proprietary Attobody platform, together with Mologic’s novel electronic lateral flow immunoassay (eLFIA) technology.  This partnership will also help facilitate more rapid responses to future pandemics.
