The Disability History month theme for 2022 is ‘Disability, Health and Well Being.’ To recognise the month, we have worked in partnership with the TOUCH and SEE art group based at Bedford Arts and Crafts Centre.
The TOUCH and SEE group offers its diverse membership the opportunity to try out painting, printing, collage-making, ceramics and fabric work, and the display at The Higgins Bedford features paintings and sculpture from made by participants with visual impairments.
This is the first time the group has displayed its work at the museum, so it is a great opportunity to come and see their creativity!

Edward Bawden Gallery – Free Entry
‘Artist Plantsman’ explores British artist Edward Bawden’s lifelong love of plants and gardens through a wide range of his work, including early wallpaper designs, well-known prints, advertising campaigns and private commissions.
Drawn exclusively from the Edward Bawden archive, our exhibition features works inspired by the grand gardens of Carthage and botanical gardens at Kew, as well as Bawden’s own gardens at his parent’s home in Braintree.

Explore the amazing art and fascinating artefacts on display around the gallery and museum, then use your imagination and a range of media and materials to get arty.
Drop in any time between 2-4pm. Our Sunday Crafternoon activities are free and there is no need to book. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
