Community Tree Planting Scheme

Bedford Borough Council is asking volunteers to help plant over 9,500 trees during January and February

This year’s community tree planting will take place across five sites, of which four are still available to book sessions at:

Longholme Way: 21 January – Bedford’s first Miyawaki project. 3,200 trees to be planted close together to create a mini-forest within 10 years. What3Words location; ///food.rounds.hours. Slots available at 9:30am and 1pm, lasting 1.5 hours.

Maskell Drive: 26 January – 1,600 trees to be planted in the northern area of Maskell Drive to increase woodland plots. What3Words location; ///hats.mutual.fine. Slots available at 10:30am and 12:30pm, lasting 1.5 hours.

Duchess Road: 3 February – 120 trees to boost the local environment and help reduce noise pollution. What3Words location; ///limit.broom.flip. Session starts at 10:30am. Please be aware there are limited spaces due to the small site size.

Thor Drive: date TBC – 110 trees to increase diversity in the Thor Drive greenspace. What3Words location; ///daisy.glee.late. Session starts at 10:30am. Please be aware there are limited spaces due to the small site size.

Green Man Garden welcomes new volunteers!

Volunteering

If you have time to spare on Friday afternoons and would like to join us in renovating the Green Man Community Garden in Addison Howard Park, Kempston, we would love to hear from you. The following task sessions are scheduled, but volunteers can also undertake gardening tasks on any day and time:

  • Friday 13 January 12noon to 2pm
  • Friday 27 January 12noon to 2pm
  • Friday 10 February 12noon to 2pm
  • Friday 24 February 12noon to 2pm
