Reminder – Mayoral and Ward Councillor Elections Take Place Tomorrow

Polling Stations open from 7am tomorrow for the Mayoral and Ward Councillor Elections.

Don’t forget you will need some official form of photo ID which will be checked before you can vote.  Full details below:

Voter ID:

For the first time, electors voting in person at polling stations will need to show photographic ID to vote at this May’s local elections

Accepted forms of ID include a UK, European Economic Area (EEA) or Commonwealth passport; a UK, EEA or Commonwealth drivers’ licence; and some concessionary travel passes, such as an older person’s bus pass or an Oyster 60+ card.

Voters will be able to use expired ID if they are still recognisable from the photo.

You can find out where to vote at www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/voter/your-election-information or alternatively, your polling station address should be printed on your polling card, which is delivered by post before an election.

Postal Votes:

Any postal votes which do not arrive by 10pm tomorrow will not be counted, but you can drop them off at your local polling station if you’ve left it too late to send them.

You cannot vote in person at a polling station if you have successfully applied to vote by post, however, you can take your complete postal ballot pack (ballot paper and accompanying postal voting statement) to a polling station on polling day between 7am and 10pm.
