The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Bedfordshire are recruiting for a Commissioning Officer.
As a Commissioning Officer you will form part of a small team, responsible for the management of the Commissioning Cycle within the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Bedfordshire.
We are seeking someone with relevant experience working in Commissioning environment, who is keen to bring their expertise to support Bedfordshire Police.
The Commissioning Officer role is varied, with exciting roles and responsibilities, working autonomously on projects or working as part of a team on larger tendering opportunities.
The Commissioning Cycle informs a majority of the work undertaken, beginning with understanding the needs of the County of Bedfordshire, the service provision within and the voices of victims and offenders within.
With all commissioning practises completed with an evidence base, the role offers an opportunity to conduct research and to commission research pieces to inform future commissioning cycles, broadening your own knowledge base and forming new opportunities through gap analysis.
Working closely with partners within the county alongside national partner agencies such as the Lottery Fund, the roles also offers engagement opportunities through co-commissioning and joint working.
The planning phase of the Commissioning Cycle allows the Commissioning Officer and wider team the chance to design service specifications, agreeing funding envelopes and developing outcome measures utilising the information gathered through research conducted.
Enhanced engagement and development opportunities are available for the Commissioning officer through the planning stage as large-scale tender processes and evaluation process require project management, engagement with partners through engagement events and joint working with other departments such as Procurement.
As a Commissioning Officer, you will work transparently, engaging stakeholders using a variety of contact methods and published documents as the Commissioning Cycle progresses. The role will be engaged with evaluation panels for small and large funding opportunities, managing millions of pounds per annum.
Using analytical skills and report writing capabilities, the role will work alongside colleagues to complete monitoring meetings with our providers and returns to our funders. Not only will the role be responsible for financial management of providers and their projects, but the team will conduct trend analysis and strive for continuous improvement through service delivery.
Further to the management of services funded through our core funders, the role will also research wider funding opportunities through charitable and private sector funders. Tying in research outcomes, trend analysis and project development, bid submissions will be submitted individually and/ or as a team to increase the service provision to victims and offenders across Bedfordshire.
