The popular celebration of British Science Week returns to The Higgins Bedford with lots for budding scientists to get involved with, inspired by the theme ‘Growth’.

Families can join in with seed planting workshops, learn how to make bug houses, explore local animals, plants and insects, dig up the past and join in blanket digs.

Dr Emma Nicholls will also be available to answer questions about the Rutland Sea Dragon (ichthyosaur) discovered in 2021.

Airship Dreaming Family Story Workshop

Using inspiration from the collections, join storyteller Jane Lambourne to create your own Airship Dream story. Design and make your own storybook cover, then Jane will guide you through 7 simple steps to fill the pages of your book with a story. Suitable for age 6-12.

Ingrid Pollard is a British artist and photographer. Her work often uses portrait and landscape photography to interrogate social constructs such as Britishness, race, sexuality, and identity. Working across a wide variety of techniques, from photography, printmaking, drawing and installation, to artist books, video, and audio, Pollard’s work combines research and experimental processes to make art that is both deeply personal and socially engaged, addressing issues that are urgent and relevant today: the human body, migration, our relationship with the natural world.

Ingrid Pollard: Carbon Slowly Turning is the first major survey of Pollard’s career showing highlights of work from the past 40 years as well as debuting exciting new work.
