Dear Residents

I have received the email below from the Borough Council.  I have a hard copy of the plan, and if you wish to read it, please let me know.

Bedford Borough Local Plan 2040

Plan for Submission consultation 15th June – 29th July 2022

The Borough Council has prepared the Bedford Borough Local Plan 2040 for submission and is consulting on the soundness of the plan before sending it to the Planning Inspectorate for independent scrutiny.

The consultation commences on 15th June 2022 and will last for six weeks ending on 29th July 2022 at 5pm.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer any extensions to the consultation close. The responses to this consultation will be forwarded on to the Planning Inspectorate and any late responses will need to be marked as such. There can be no guarantee that responses received after the close of the consultation will be taken into consideration.

It is the Borough Council’s intention that the document will eventually be adopted as part of the development plan. The timetable for the adoption of the plan is set out in the Council’s Local Development Scheme (LDS) which can be viewed at www.bedford.gov.uk/LDS

Copies of the Plan for Submission, Sustainability Appraisal and supporting documents can also be found on the Council’s website at www.bedford.gov.uk/localplan2040

Below you will find further details about the consultation process, where the documents may be inspected, the deadline for comments and how to respond.

You should already have received a parish pack which includes posters for you to display in your community on notice boards, in village halls and in shops etc. along with a paper copy of the Plan for Submission for you to make available to those residents who may have difficulty accessing information electronically. If you would like additional posters or have a query about the consultation please contact the Policy Team planningpolicy@bedford.gov.uk or call Kim Wilson on 01234 228484.

Yours sincerely
