Council’s Parks Retain Green Flag Awards

Green Flag AwardsKeep Britain Tidy has announced the winners of the international quality mark for parks and green spaces, the Green Flag Award.

Addison Howard Park, Bedford Park, Harrold-Odell Country Park and Priory Country Park, have all been included in the winners list. Harrold-Odell Country Park did exceptionally well, scoring overall in the highest category this year, which reflects the hard work put into the management of the park from the Country Park Team and Friends of Harrold-Odell Country Park.

The judges gave a special mention about the amazing park volunteers, and the work they undertake to make the local parks as beautiful as they are.

Residents Reminded To Renew Tax Credits

Tax CreditsWe are reminding tax credits customers that they have less than a month remaining to renew their claims.

Currently, there are over 300,000 customers across the UK who have received renewal packs but have yet to confirm their circumstances for the current tax year in order to continue receiving payments. Any alterations to living arrangements, childcare, working hours, or income changes could impact the amount of tax credits received.

Summer Reading Challenge 2023


BooksReady, Set, Read! is the theme for the Summer Reading Challenge at Bedford Borough Libraries this year. It runs until Saturday 9 September and promises to be an exciting and engaging programme for children aged four to eleven.

Children are invited to earn rewards for reading through the summer. There is also a fun activity pack to complete which includes scratch and sniff stickers!
