Budget 2022 Consultation

Despite already achieving savings in excess of £100 million Bedford Borough Council needs to identify further savings. The impact of Covid-19 has had a major impact on the Council’s finances and resources, alongside increased demand on care services. The Council faces an estimated funding gap of £15.7M to 2025/26 with an immediate pressure of over £5M in the next financial year – 2022/23.

We are inviting comments on our approach and asking for other ideas as to how we can make savings, from our residents, businesses and all other stakeholders.

In addition to our consulting on our approach to our day-to-day spending (known as our revenue budget), we are also asking for comments on a small number of longer-term capital (one-off) schemes.

Council Tax Reduction Scheme Consultation

Bedford Borough Council has a local Council Tax Reduction Scheme to provide help with the cost of Council Tax to households with a low income. The Scheme offers discounts of up to 100% off Council Tax bills for households on very low income. No changes are proposed to the Scheme for 2022-23. However, the Scheme must be approved by the Council each year, therefore we are inviting comments through this consultation. MORE INFO HERE

Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Group (BLMK CCG) is undertaking a public consultation asking residents to share their views on proposed changes to policies on Fertility services, Gluten-free food prescribing and Milton Keynes Pharmacy First.
