Face coverings

It is now mandatory for customers and staff to wear face coverings in all libraries in England. When you visit any of our libraries please make sure you wear a face covering unless you’re exempt.

Measures remain in place to help ensure the safety of customers and staff. Please continue to respect others’ space, wear a face covering, and remember not to visit the library if you have symptoms of COVID-19.

Please note the date face coverings became mandatory is the 10th December and not 12th December as in the previous newsletter.

Christmas opening

Opening times for our libraries over Christmas and new year are now available on the Virtual Library. You’ll also find the Mobile Library route times for the festive period.

Remember, you can renew your books online if you can’t return them on time.

Christmas Rhymetimes

Christmas Rhymetimes are taking place at Bedford Central Library and Kempston Library in December. You must book your place in advance by calling the library holding the session.

Social distancing measures will be in place on our new Rhymetime rugs and there is a limit on numbers to keep the sessions small.

Christmas reading

From festive fiction to cooking magazines, we’ve got all your Christmas reading needs covered!

Borrow fiction to get you in the festive spirit, plus cookery and craft books to help create the perfect Christmas vibe. Try listening to an audiobook while you’re making mince pies, or sneak off with an e-book if you get a quiet moment.

Rapid Covid-19 test kits

Rapid Covid-19 test kits can be picked up from all Bedford Borough Libraries.

You don’t need to be a member to collect a test from the library. Tests can only be collected during staffed hours. Check the Virtual Library to find out library opening times.
