The Summer Reading Challenge starts on Saturday 16^th July and runs through the summer holidays in all Bedford Borough Libraries, including the mobile library. It’s free to join and children of any age can take part by reading as many books as they can. They’ll receive a certificate for the first six books, a pencil for their next six, and if they read another six they’ll get a medal!

This year’s Summer Reading Challenge, ‘Gadgeteers’, is all about science and innovation. Developed in partnership with the Science Museum Group, the Challenge inspires children to discover the science behind the everyday, and celebrate the role of the imagination in both reading and the sciences.

And the fun doesn’t stop there! There will be FREE craft activities for children taking place in all our libraries every day of the school holidays. Look out for the full list of activities on our Facebook page, or pick up a booklet from your local library.

Children can sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge at any library during staffed hours, including the mobile library, from the 16^th July. They’ll receive a pack containing everything they need to complete the challenge, including the always popular smelly stickers!
