All Bedford Borough Libraries open

Library

We are open for limited browsing and computer use, and book returns. Social distancing measures are in place such as screens, one way systems, as well as Test and Trace. Some areas of the library are not accessible including the children’s library, but bundles of books are available to grab and go. All returned items are quarantined before they’re shelved.

The mobile library is also back on the road offering a Select and Collect and request service. You can’t get on the vehicle but you can pick up your books from the door.

Rapid Lateral Flow tests are available from all our libraries. Please check opening times and wear a face-covering when you visit unless you have a legitimate reason not to.

Charges returning

Fines and charges

Overdue charges and hire fees for CDs, DVDs and Spoken Word will be reinstated from Monday 1st June.

There are a number of ways to renew your items and avoid overdue charges:

Reservations will continue to be free whilst we complete the phased reintroduction of services.

Please call your local library or send us a message through Contact Us if you have any questions.

Digital activities for kids!

With half term nearly here we’ve been preparing craft activities kids can do at home. Look out for the paper plate boat and Lizzie Lizard on Facebook and the Virtual Library! All our crafts can be done using materials usually found around the house.

The award winning Libby service offers lots of fun titles for kids. Search by audience to find e-books, audiobooks, and magazines suitable for all ages. If you get a moment to yourself, maybe you could download a title from your favourite author!

Libby is free to our library members. Download the app or find out more on the Virtual Library.
