Love Libraries Month

Julia JarmanWe’re celebrating reading and libraries with author visits and talks this month, starting with Julia Jarman at Bromham Library on Thursday 8 February at 1.30pm. Julia will be talking about her first adult novel, The Widows’ Wine Club.

The following day Bob Ricketts will take us on a walk down memory lane to Bedford during the 50s and 70s at Bedford Central Library at 11.15am. On Monday 12 February Sunday Times best-selling author Sue Moorcroft will be talking about her life as an author at Putnoe Library.

Tickets for all events can be booked online, through the Box Office on 01234 718044, or by speaking to library staff.

Family events for half term

Come to Bedford Central Library on Wednesday 21 February at 11.15am to celebrate the grooviest (and most fabulous!) picture book in this colourful, energetic and fun-filled session, perfect for 4-7 year olds. Larry the llama loves to move and groove… but will the others disapprove? After an interactive reading of the book, join author Simon James Green and bust some disco moves! We encourage you to come in your most favourite and fabulous clothes! No need to book – just come along.

All Bedford Borough Libraries will have free drop-in crafts during staffed hours every day of half term. You don’t need to be a member of the library for these activities, but it’s free to join and borrow books at any age.

Awkward teenage hilarity with a positive message? This is the session for you!

Come to Kempston Library on Wednesday 21 February at 2.30pm for this laugh-out-loud event which includes anecdotes from Simon’s own (hapless) school days, a celebration of funny books and how they help us navigate life, and how `owning the awkward` is the best approach for getting through secondary school (and life in general!)

Suitable for ages twelve and over, there will be readings from the books, a Q&A and a lot of cringe. A lot. You’ve been warned!
