Philharmonia Orchestra:

Music in Unexpected Places

We are delighted to welcome musicians from the world-class Philharmonia Orchestra – Bedford’s resident orchestra – for free recitals at Bedford Central Library and Kempston Library on Saturday 2 March, both at 11am.

Bedford Central Library will be joined by a wind trio and Kempston Library will welcome a string trio for a short programme of popular tunes and beloved classics in a relaxed setting away from the concert hall. The wind trio will also be at The Higgins on the same day at 1pm.

Sit down, grab a book, and experience half an hour of extraordinary music-making by some of the best musicians in the industry.

We can’t wait to see you there!

World Book Day

World Book Day logoBring your under fives to celebrate World Book Day at special Rhyme Time and Bounce and Rhyme sessions in our libraries during the week beginning 4 March.

Children (and adults!) can dress as their favourite book character or however they fancy, and join in with rhymes, listen to stories, and get creative with some colouring or a craft activity.

Rhyme Time and Bounce and Rhyme sessions are free to join at all Bedford Borough Libraries.

Love Libraries Month

HeartFebruary was our first ever Love Libraries Month and we wanted to thank you for supporting all our events!

In our hearts, it’s always Love Libraries Month so we hope to see you in our libraries, whether you’re choosing your next favourite read, bringing someone to enjoy a free Rhyme Time, or using the free Wi-Fi to support your study.

Songs and stories for under fives

We had a very special guest visit our libraries in February!

Bookstart Bear loved coming to meet families last month. If you didn’t make it in February, do come along to Rhyme Times and Bounce and Rhyme sessions in our libraries throughout term-time. During the school holidays all libraries offer Story Times which are aimed at children of all ages. All sessions are free and no need to book in advance.

Don’t worry if you missed Bookstart Bear this time, we’re sure he’ll be back again soon!
