Drowning Prevention week

SWIMMING THE MOST IMPORTANT LIFE SKILL

dw

Teaching swimming is THE most important life skill we can teach our children – even more important than learning about first aid.

That’s according to research out today which says more than half of parents (56%) say it tops their list of priorities.

The study by Better, to mark Drowning Prevention Week, highlighted how 42% were “very concerned” about the risk of drowning on a family holiday, more so than food poisoning (28%) or catching an illness (26%).

As part of drowning prevention week Better are hosting a day of activities at Robinson Pools and fitness on Wednesday 19th June from 4-6pm, supported by emergency services.

Emergency services representatives will be setting up activities and awareness sessions, in and outside the centre.

The event will run from 4-6pm and there is no cost to attend.

  • The Fire Service and Police will be in attendance together with St Johns Ambulance.
  • CPR demonstrations and ‘have a go’ CPR practical sessions
  • Colouring competition and Balloons
  • Lifeguarding demonstrations on poolside

More information regarding the event is available in the further information link below.
