Vaccine Drive and Testing Key as Government unveils its Autumn/Winter Plan

Covid-19 Snapshot

This week the government announced their plans to tackle COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses over the coming autumn and winter months.

Key to the plan is the ongoing importance of vaccinations for those yet to have the vaccine, and Bedford Borough continues to encourage take up among the local community. Over 18s can book via the National Booking System  or anyone over 16 can visit a walk-in site – no appointment needed. A free taxi service is also available to take people to and from the Bedford Borough COVID-19 vaccination sites.

The government has also agreed to offer vaccines to young people aged between 12 and 15 years of age, and a booster jab programme for the over 50’s and clinically vulnerable will begin soon.

The plan also includes the continued approach of testing and tracing cases and self-isolation for those who catch the virus.

Help to protect Bedford Borough.

Arrange to have your vaccine if you have not yet taken the opportunity (You will be due your second dose if you had your first COVID vaccination on or before 22 July), book a PCR test if you start to display symptoms and make those small choices that can help keep you and those around you safe – keeping homes and indoor spaces well ventilated, wearing a face covering as appropriate and maintaining social distancing.
