Bedford Borough Design Guide Scoping Consultation

The Council is preparing a design guide to provide general design advice for future development in the borough. It will support design policies that appear in the adopted development plan, including those in the Local Plan 2030.

There is a new and growing emphasis in national planning policy and guidance on ensuring future development and place making is well designed and beautiful.

The purpose of this consultation is to gather comments on the scope of the design guide. A consultation paper has been prepared, setting out what the design guide could cover and how it could be presented. Before going any further, we want to hear your views on the proposed content and structure that the scoping document sets out.

Digital Consultation to Shape the Future of the OxCam Arc

A new plan aims to enhance the infrastructure, environment and new developments in the counties of Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. It will be developed by government, informed by engagement with local communities and stakeholders, and will have sustainability at its core.

This public consultation is the first of three that will guide a new Spatial Framework over the next two years, and a digital platform has been created that will make it quick and accessible for people who live, work, and have an interest in the area to make their voices heard.

Comments received in the consultation will help create the Spatial Framework’s vision for the area to 2050, and will help guide local planning and investment decisions in four areas; the environment; the economy; connectivity and infrastructure; and place-making.
