Green garden waste collections

With winter approaching, garden waste collections will soon be ending for the season with the last scheduled green bin collection on Tuesday 30th November 2021. Please check when your last green bin collection day will be by using our online collection day finder at www.bedford.gov.uk/bins.

Due to the national shortage of HGV drivers, green collections are currently disrupted and residents will experience a delay to their green garden waste bin collection.

While green bin collections do finish for winter at the end of November, crews will be continuing to collect into December if necessary to ensure everyone receives their final collection of the year.

If your green bin collection is missed, please leave your bin our in a safe place for our crews to collect as soon as we can.

Thank you for your patience.

Garden waste collections will be starting up again on 1st March 2022.

Did you know …. Empty aerosols are recyclable!

Aerosols

All you need to do is make sure the aerosol is empty before placing it into the orange lidded bin for recycling.

Do not pierce, crush or flatten aerosol cans, just separate any loose parts such as the lid, and place the lid and empty aerosol into the orange lidded recycling bin.

If everyone in UK recycled one empty can of air freshener, enough energy could be saved to run a TV in 273,000 homes for a year! So next time you finish an aerosol of deodorant or air freshener, remember to recycle it.
